At the Meet
Below are some tips for both Swimmers and Parents/Families attending a meet
Swimmers and Parents/Families
- Arrive and check in with the Team Manager at least 30 minutes before warmup
- Participate in dryland exercises with the team
- As a team, we are required to provide 1 official per 4 swimmers, therefore timekeeping may be required by a parent/caregiver
- Buying your own programme at the event can help the organisation of the day
- Ensure you have allocated enough time to stay until the end of the meet, even if you have completed your races
- Cheer on your team mates when they are racing

Marshalling
- Sit with your team so the Team Manager can advise you when to go to marshalling
- Do not wander off as there is no time for your Team Manager to look for you before a race
- If you need to leave the team area, advise your Team Manager before you leave and also when you return
- Check in with your Coach for a race plan before you go to marshalling
- At marshalling your name will be checked off
- Stay in your allocated space at marshalling until you are directed to move to your allocated starting block

The Race
- Check with the timekeepers that you have the right heat and lane - mistakes can happen
- Stand quietly being the timekeepers until it's your race, keeping some warm clothes on until the last moment
- Get your cap and goggles on comfortably in plenty of time before your race starts
- At the end of your race, exit the pool only when signalled to do so. If timing equipment is being used, never climb over it - use the ladders at the side of the pool
- Ask the timekeepers for your time, remembering to thank them - they are volunteers
- Talk to your Coach after your race for an evaluation of your performance

Results
- Some bigger swim meets require you to swim heats and finals, while smaller events are straight timed finals
- Official times are posted on the wall om the pool complex and sometimes on the Meet Mobile app after each event
- Sometimes age group ribbons or medals are awarded. These are distributed during a prizegiving or by the Team Manager or Coach
